Study Area

Aerial photo of the plateau (taken in 1987).

The plateau has a triangular shape, with its apex located towards the east, and includes a surface area of ca. 240 ha. It is naturally divided into two sections, an upper and a lower one, with altitudes above sea level ranging between 100 and 180 m for the lower and 180 to 260 m for the upper plateau. It is most easily accessible from the east side, i.e., from the coastal plain, which features a gentle slope. Its northern slope, which faces the Helisson River, is steeper, and even more so the southern slope, towards the Asopos River valley.
