An overview of the settlement developments in the Peloponnese since the fall of the Mycenaean Palaces to the Early Iron Age. Research activities dealing with Bronze Age and Iron Age in Greece were for long time considered, even by the archaeologists, strictly separated topics. Aegean archaeology seems to remain indifferent in linking these two periods. The paper will highlight aspects of continuity and change related to the period of the transition in the Peloponnese trought the analysis of the sites development -since the last phases of the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age- taking into account the different regional ambits and with special reference to the northern area. One will consider the state of the sites surviving to the fall of the Mycenaean palaces. The emergence of local expressions in various cultural aspects seems to involve also a new terriorial model. If, on the one hand, this model is similar to the pre-palatial one, on the other hand it preludes to the rise of the polis.
