Oral History Group of Kypseli
History and stories from the neighbourhood

The “Oral History Group of Kypseli” [ΟΠΙΚ] was formed in the spring of 2011 having as a subject the most crowded and multicultural neighborhood of Athens, Kypseli. Its members are volunteers; habitants from the neighborhood of different ages and occupations along with historians, anthropologists, architects. All together they collected oral interviews after attending an educational seminar. The object of OPIK is to present the problems and the opportunities that come up from the formation of a voluntary group of Oral History, as well as the results from its research in the memory of the ‘40s, the migration, everyday life and labor.
