Oral histories of the Holocaust and their interpretation in the present

In the present paper following the in vivo oral testimony of a survivor of the Holocaust in the Jewish Museum of Athens and his dialogue with kids and adolescents aged between 11 and 16, in a small scale educational research, we explore the following aspects of their experience: what does the oral narrative and the lived experience of the Holocaust mean for children of this age? Did the young people understand the historical context of the past or did they see the narrative only through the lens of the present? Which factors affected their way of thinking? Did the place in which the story was told, a «community» museum, affect their interpretations and if so, in which ways? What were the questions that children asked the survivor and how were different narratives and interpretations created as a result of their dialogue?
