«Others’ Stories»: The biographic narratives as starting point of transformative learning in higher education

The presentation focuses on the findings of a research project which examines if the usage of biographic narratives in the context of a University course could function for the students as a starting point for transformative learning. The course “Otherness and Narrative”, at the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of Thessaly, aims at making students more aware of issues concerning the handling of “οtherness” through the analysis of biographic narratives. The research indicated that the contact with the “οther” leads the participants to question previous stereotypical perceptions.
