Anthropology, oral history and education: training future professionals through experiential learning

This paper discusses the use of ethnography, in general and oral history, in particular, across the various levels of the public educational system in Greece. It’s based on ethnographic material collected during 3-month seminars of ethnography that were held annually from 2007-2010. It proposes that the employment of the ethnographic method is an efficient means for the comprehension of social reality, a tool for observation of the educational process and a teaching method for the training of future professionals of education.
