In my presentation I wish to tell you ethnographic stories from my fieldwork among the Konstantinoupolites in Athens to spice up the renown feature film Politiki Kouzina, which in fact is a short phrase summarizing the long term relationship between food, city, and identity as personified in the community of Rum of Istanbul. For the Athenian counterpart of the Rum Polites cooking and consuming food has an additional significance as it is one of the main forms of relating to the City in a different time and geography, one that they recreate nostalgically from their lived memory, and one that they describe as being inherently cosmopolitan, thus making it into an embodiment of Kozmo-politiki Kouzina.
