Cinema in Italy, still dominated by "native' filmmakers, faces the increasing mobility of cultures and people. In my presentation I interrogate the modalities through which the "Mediterranean' is looked at as a privileged space to critically interrogate migration and the redefinition of boundaries and identification with local, national and European places and subjects. Individuals affectionate connections with landscapes and human beings, as well as references to stories of previous migrations, help in making sense of the present transformations.
