The Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly in Volos
organizes an international conference (Auditorium Saratsi) from 4 to 6 June 2010, entitled:
"Folklore Studies in Greece and Turkey. A different perspective".
Fellow folklorists from different universities of Turkey will participate in the conference.
Objectives of the conference:
- the acquaintance and contact between scientists of both countries
- the nomination of special characteristics of folklore in both countries
- the exchange of views on matters of folklore studies
- the contribution to the study of popular culture
- the establishment of a scientific network, which will promote the scientific dialogue and cooperation between the two neighbours
During the conference the topics that are to be developed are related to:
oral culture, traditions, folk theatre, music, dance, and general issues of folklore theory.
