Communications with the living-dead in Christian Egypt

Christian ascetics in fourth and fifth century Egypt were often said to have lived inside tombs for long periods. I shall explore their experiences and their conversations with demons as well as their contacts with the civilised world in an attempt to grasp the meaning of this peculiar status between life and death.
