Hellenistic terracotta figurines from Thebes.

Marcella Pisani
[PhD candidate, University of Rome "Tor Vergata"]

The massive excavation recently carried out 2 km. north-east from Thebes (Boeotia) by the 9th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, under the direction of V. Aravantinos, have brought to the light the largest cemetery until known of the ancient city. Among the various graves, the hellenistic ones, in particular, give us precious data and informations that noticeably enlarge our knowlwdge about the history of Thebes and its coroplastic production.
